Individual Psychotherapy

Individual Psychotherapy simply means one-to-one therapy between a client and a therapist. Individual therapy can provide a unique, confidential and non-judgemental space for someone to explore their concerns, fears and distressing feelings and thoughts.

Some people seek out therapy because of upsetting experiences or events in their lives such as grief and loss, the breakdown of a relationship, family troubles or due to painful feelings such as depression, anxiety, or a loss of hope. Others seek out therapy just because they are curious to find out more about themselves, how they relate to themselves, others and the world.

Psychotherapy, whilst not a magic recipe, can provide solace and a renewed sense of hope. It can support people to enhance their self-belief and self-worth, their relationships and their capacity for joy and creativity.

Therapy can be short-term, lasting just a few sessions, or longer-term, depending on one's needs and wishes. The desired duration of therapy, the goals of therapy and the ways of working together can all be explored in the first session and also on an ongoing basis.  For someone starting psychotherapy, I would recommend attending weekly for a period. I typically work with clients on either a weekly or fortnightly basis.
